Descending_Newel_Ascending
There are as many ideas that come from a piece of art as go into it. In this case, we arrived at a paradox. Is it ascending or descending? In the dualistic world of night and day, it's both. What goes up must come down.
We contemplated the theme recycle + renew + restore almost to a quantum level where everything is energy recycled.
As we scoped the farm's potential sites, the creative cycle of destruction/construction became apparent in many aspects of the farming process. That turned our focus to making an homage or shrine to the noble service of animals birthing and dying and the revolving of crops renewing the soil.
The irresistible pile of used lumber attracted our attention. Upon inspection the variety of board lengths and colors were obvious. Thinking of ways to use this abundant resource, our minds organized pieces by lengths and then cycled them into a spiraling shape.
As we began to construct our vision, two things became apparent: we were making a symbol very much in tune with recycling and we were achieving a goal to renew by creating something beautiful to our senses.
